- 1 People’s Expectations
In the confrontational model, shown in the Figure
in the Figure 2, there is an absence of trust, understanding and goodwill that
affect the public expectation, police perception and police response as well as
the public acceptance. Neither the police nor the people who comprise the rest
of society are aware, of mutual expectations in this kind of scenario. The
absence of sympathy and empathy produces non-acceptance, if not rejection of
mutual roles, responses and actions. There is little or no community
involvement or participation in policing.
